Holly Jackson
Zahra
5/5
A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder is the first in the sequel series written by Holly Jackson. It is a y/a book with mystery and thriller. It follows the story of Andie Bell getting murdered by her boyfriend, Sal Singh, who then killed himself. 5 years later, a 17 year-old girl named Pippa Fitz-Amobi had to choose a case of topic for her final year project, and decided to follow the case of Andie Bell. Through her interviews and information, she recovers secrets that were supposed to stay hidden. She finds out that the real killer might still be out there and is trying to stop Pippa from finding the truth. How far will she go to find out what really happened?
I decided to read a Good Girl's Guide to Murder through the recommendation of tiktok. I also discovered that it is a series. I decided to read it, and let's say it definitely did not disappoint. The book was captivating and so engaging from the beginning to end. It dragged you through some real and deep realities of the world. The biggest thing that I got out of this book was that Holly Jackson is an incredible writer. She knows how to get your attention and stick to her books. It provides great detail and goes fairly in-depth about serious topics. She writes as if you were there, following the journey and finding discoveries with Pippa along the way. The book was a struggle to put down, as it kept getting more engaging from chapter to chapter. I am definitely looking forward to finishing the series and reading some of her other books.
I would recommend this book to anyone who likes to read about murder and mystery. I would also recommend this book to someone who isn't a fan of reading. It is a great starting book to really get you in the world of reading. The age category I would put it in would be 13 and up. There are some heavy topics discussed in the book that would probably not be suitable for younger ages.
