Library Visits

Visit the Library in-person, request a class visit or invite us to attend a school event! 

Explore the resources students can borrow with a library card and gain access to databases and topic guides that will support academic learning and leisure reading. Open a world of possibility to your students as they develop basic library search skills with interactive activities designed for the grade level of your choice. Foster a love of reading with access to our extensive collection of books, graphic novels and more for the student audience. 

Our library outreach team can also attend your school classroom or community events, complete the form below and we will contact you within a few days to confirm the details.

Visit Focus Areas

School Classroom Visit

Request a fun-filled library discovery session in your elementary classroom. Let us capture the attention of your students with fun reading activities, stories or project related resources. We are available for single or multiple classroom visits and ready to equip your students with learning resources. 

Parents/Guardians can complete and sign the Library Card Application form to gain access to materials and digital resources for their children. Teachers can submit the signed Library Card Application forms prior to the library classroom visit and we will bring the library cards for those students. 

 

Explore Your Library Visit

Open a world of possibilities, learn about all the interesting items you can borrow with a Barrie Public Library Card. Teachers, provide us with your unit of study and we will feature resources from our collection. Students will enjoy an overview of our Library resources.

Tinker Lab Tour

Come design, experiment, and create at the Tinker Lab! Explore tech toys and devices that make learning fun, discover Spheros, Ozobots and Snap Circuits. Work as a team to build simple machines with our Imagination Playground big foam blue blocks or our Rigamajig wooden building kit.

Summer Reading Club Visit

Inspire your students to READ this summer, schedule a Barrie Public Library visit or request a classroom presentation for an introduction to our Summer Reading Club. A program designed to foster a love of reading with challenges, prizes and activities. This free program is accessible to all your students with an easy online reading tracker or in-person reporting option, it is fun for everyone!

Database Research Workshop

Teach your students research skills that support learning. Request a classroom workshop or visit the Library with your students to develop basic database research skills. Learn how to access academic articles for assigned projects and reference online resources. These sessions can be customized to your class assignment.

Recommended for Intermediate and Secondary Students in Grades 7-12

Battle of the Books Visit

A classroom visit designed to prepare Battle of the Books school teams for the Grand Battle Challenges with sample drills, related games and questions.

School Community Event Visit

This is an onsite visit for any School BBQ, Welcome to Kindergarten Event, Parent Teacher Night and more. This presentation invites your parent community to explore the value of their local library and all the resources that are available with a library card from reading materials to digital research that support learning.
