Our Services

At the Barrie Public Library we are committed to providing inclusive, and welcoming spaces where the community comes together. 

Computers

Computers are available to library cardholders to use for up to 5 hours each day.

Internet Guest Cards are available for anyone that only wants to use the public computers. All users must agree to the terms of our Public Internet and Computer Use Policy.

Our public computers have Microsoft Word, Publisher and Excel. 

Wi-Fi

Wi-Fi is available throughout and around our buildings during open hours. There is no password – just connect to the Barrie Public Library network and accept the user agreement.

Photocopying, Printing & Scanning

Self-serve photocopying, printing and scanning to email is available at all locations. Printing and photocopying is available in black & white or colour at a cost of 20 cents per page. You can pay by cash, credit or debit at our print kiosks.

We do not offer fax services or provide change.

 

Wireless & Remote Printing

Print from your own device, within the library or remotely. Self-serve printing is available in black & white or colour at a cost of 20 cents per page. You can pay by cash, credit or debit at our print kiosks.

  1. What do you want to print?
    Find one or more files on your computer or device that you want to print. 

  2. Go to the Online Print Portal

  3. How do you want to print it?
    Select number of copies, page range, black and white or colour and other settings.
    The item waits in the library's printing kiosk, until you retrieve and print it

  4. Go get your prints!
    Once your file is uploaded, go to any library location within 24 hours to print the file from the self-serve print kiosk. Staff are available to help, if needed. If the print job is not retrieved and printed by the day after submission, it will automatically be deleted from the kiosk.

Work and Study SpaceĀ 

Need a place to work or study? There are many spaces available on a drop-in basis at all three of our library locations.

You can also book some private study spaces, for up to eight people, up to one week in advance at the Downtown Library.

Coaching Sessions

Tech Coach

Have a tech question or issue you need help with? Register for in-person one-on-one Tech Coach sessions with our staff for help with a variety of technology or help navigating our Digital Library.

Genealogy Coach

Need help with a basic family history search, or to discover our online genealogy tools and local history collections? Book a one-hour in-person Genealogy Coach session with library staff for assistance with basic research. 

Cricut Coach

Learn to use the Cricut Explore Air 2 with an in-person Cricut Coach session. Develop your skills and create a paper or vinyl personalized project to decorate your home or to gift.

Visiting Library Service

Visiting Library Service offers book delivery to individuals in Barrie that are unable to pick up library materials in person. Staff can recommend some great reads, or assist you in requesting a specific title, then volunteers will provide drop-off to your door.

Visiting Library Service can be available on either a temporary or long-term basis.

Library Tours

Want to learn more about the library? As a member of Barrie Public Library, you have access to a variety of services, resources, and programs. Book a tour for yourself or a group to learn more about what is available for you at Barrie Public Library. Tours are available for all audiences at all our locations and can be customized to meet the needs of your group. We also provide tours in French.
