Placing Holds

Bestsellers and popular items will often have a wait list to check the item out – you can place a hold on the item to secure your place in line. When it’s your turn, you’ll be notified that you can pick up your item from the Holds shelf at the branch you requested.

Browse our new catalogue to find an item you’d like to borrow and click on Request It. You’ll be prompted to enter your library card number and PIN, and then select which branch you’d like to pick up the item from. You can also ask a staff member to place a hold for you. With our new catalogue, you can set your pickup location in your settings so you can skip that step in the future. 

Holding Process

When your item is ready to be picked up, you’ll be notified by text, phone call or email (depending on your preferences). You'll have 7 days to pick up your hold(s). 

You can view the status of items currently on hold for you through your MyBPL account.

Please note it may take up to 2 days for items at another location to reach your pick up location. Contact us at 705-728-1010 or for any questions about holds.

Managing Your Holds

Log in to your account and click on the Holds menu on the left side. From here you can cancel the hold, change the Pickup Location or temporarily freeze your hold without losing your place in line.
