Loan Periods and Fees

Loan periods, limits and fees vary depending on the type of material you are borrowing.  To see when the items you’ve borrowed are due, login to your MyBPL account or call us at 705-728-1010.

There are no late fines for any material including books, eBooks or eAudiobooks!  Replacement costs for physical items will be added to your account if the material is not returned to the library. But eBooks and eAudiobooks simply disappear from your device at the end of your loan period.

A total of 80 items can be checked out on each card at one time, including up to 30 DVDs/Blu-Rays and 5 video games.

Borrow up to 8 eBooks, audiobooks, movies, TV shows, Music CDs, or comics each month from Hoopla Digital and 20 ebooks/audiobooks from cloudLibrary.

MyLibrary! App

Bring the library to your fingertips with the MyLibrary! app. Search the catalogue, see what materials you have checked out and on hold, view your fines and change your PIN. See a book for sale that you're interested in? Scan the barcode to see if we have it in our collection and place a hold! Download the MyLibrary! app from the App Store for Apple Devices, or Google Play store for Android devices.

Renewing Items

You can renew items 24/7 through our automated phone renewal system or online through your MyBPL account. To renew by phone, call 705-728-1010 and choose Option 2 then Option 1.

During library hours, call 705-728-1010 to speak to a staff member, or visit us in person.

Library material may be renewed with the following exceptions:

  • You’ve already renewed the item three times
  • Someone else has placed a hold on the item
  • You have $50.00 or more in replacement costs for billed library materials
  • The item is an Interlibrary Loan

You may sign up to receive courtesy notices about your items by email, text or phone.  To change your notification preferences, visit us in person, call 705-728-1010 or use our Ask a Librarian form. Staff will need your name, library card barcode, and cellphone number (for text alerts) or email address (for email alerts).

You are responsible for returning items checked out on your account by the due date and courtesy notices are not intended to be your only method of tracking due dates.  Failure to receive a courtesy notice does not change the due date.  Due dates can be checked by referring to the date due receipt you received at check-out, by logging into your MyBPL account, by visiting us in person, by calling 705-728-1010 (Option #2 for the automated account information and renewal system, Option #4 for Downtown, Option #5 for Painswick) or using our Ask a Librarian online form.
