Online Seedy Saturday at the Library
Join us online for Seedy Saturday Saturdays and Sundays throughout the month of March!
From hands-on activities to try with your family, to tips and tricks on getting your garden growing, there is something for everyone. Learn about seed starting basics, creating a water garden feature, food security, seed boxes, and more through speaker sessions, DIY videos, or by connecting with a local expert at our virtual Green Expo.
It all starts Saturday, March 5, with “Ask a Master Gardener,” join this live Q&A with Simcoe County Master Gardeners. Learn tips and tricks for your dream garden.
“Food Security” — with Ginelle Skerritt on Saturday, March 12. Ginelle Skerritt was recently appointed as the first Black CEO of a Children’s Aid Society in Ontario. A mother of 5, Ginelle is an international public speaker, moderator, facilitator, trainer, coach, published author and the Banker Lady of a traditional susu savings association. She is the co-owner of Adrinkrafarm, a cooperative and educational family farm where she leads retreats, camps, team building, Akan-based Rites of Passage and farm programmes for youth, adults and children. She is a student of Indigenous African ancestral practices.
“Seeding The Future of Regenerative Agriculture” — with Jacob Kearey-Moreland on Saturday, March 19. Bring your questions and learn alongside the perspective and experiences of a seasoned urban agriculture facilitator and market gardener - this workshop is ideal for first-timers and home growers and farmers alike looking to maximize ecological food production and its social and environmental benefits.

Seed Library
We’ve officially launched our Seed Library for the 2022 growing season! Residents can borrow up to 3 packets of seeds while supplies last. Check out the Seed Library website for some basic information on starting your seeds, or our Plant-by-Plant Guide for more growing details!
Our Seed Library supply is based on donations, and we welcome seed donations throughout the year! Please place your extra seeds in an envelope with the seed type, date the seeds were harvested or purchased, and your contact information. They can be dropped off at any library location.
