Dune, the film is based on a two-part novel written by Frank Herbert in 1965. The film only covers the first half of the book. The story goes with Paul and his family. They are noble and are thrown into a war with the deadly desert “planet”. They must go there for the future of their family and their people. The resource, the spice located in the desert is extremely valuable, but comes at a great cost. It is extremely difficult to receive and is only achieved with those who are willing to confront the fear to live.
Although it was a fairly long movie, it was great. It was a little hard to follow as it is based on a book I haven't read, it was still extremely interesting. It was also easy to follow and eventually you pick up on what's going on. It made me want to read the book for the understanding of the movie and the sequel coming soon. One thing for sure, it was visually pleasing from start to finish. All the scenes had beautiful and amazing sights to see. The director, Denis Villeneuve didn't want to use a green screen for the location, and instead actually filmed in locations around the world. He was for sure right about that. The locations that they were shot in were spectacular and perfect for each scene. Another thing I liked were the performances from all the actors, not to mention all the well-known actors in the movie. From the upcoming Timothée Chalamet, Oscar Issac as Duke Leto, to Jason Momoa as Duncan. All their roles fit each person perfectly to help really grasp the audience.
I would recommend this film to anyone who has read the book. Or to anyone who loves a good, well-done movie. This movie was a magnificent movie and I can't wait to watch the next part!
