My name is William , I am currently in 12th grade, and I will be reviewing the book Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.

Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone is a book about a young boy being brought from a miserable life to a wonderful, magical world where he met his two closest friends, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger.  The Story itself is a fantasy/fiction book, written by J.K. Rowling , and published in 1997.  The book was also adapted into a movie in 2001, which was directed by Chris Columbus.  The plot follows the same plot line as the hero’s journey where a hero begins in his own world, then being called to adventure and the hero denying it.  The hero then meets with a mentor and is given advice or knowledge.  After this the hero crosses a threshold and enters a special world.  Once the hero enters this world he learns new rules by meeting new people and making allies, and then enters the innermost cave where the goal of the journey is hidden.  The hero after entering the cave faces danger, then after retrieving the goal of the journey returns to his ordinary world, and will inevitably repeat the journey, until the hero learns the lesson.  This plot line of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone follows this exact journey, almost to the letter.  This can be seen in such parts of the plot such as Hagrid coming to return Harry to Hogwarts and Harry denying this  Another example of this is the end of the book, although no spoilers.

I would rate the book a complete 5/5 as it will have you hooked every chapter of the book, as it leaves you wondering what could happen next.  A couple of the main characters within the book are Ron Weasley, Hermione Granger, Rubeus Hagrid and Professor Albus Dumbledore.

I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys reading adventure books or fiction books.  I personally enjoyed both the beginning and the ending to the book as it ended and opened very satisfyingly.  I would definitely say that I enjoyed the book as I have reread the novel several times and never not enjoyed any part of it.
