One Of Us Is Lying starts one Monday afternoon when five students walk into the detention room but only four walk out. The remaining four students all follow classic troupes; Bronwyn is Yale-bound, she’s the brains, Addy is the future homecoming queen, she’s the beauty, Nate is on probation, he’s the criminal and Cooper is the athlete and an all-star level pitcher. The fifth student is named Simon; he's an outcast and runs the school gossip blog. He has secrets about all the other characters and because of that they are the prime suspects for his murder.

As the story goes on we learn more about each of the characters and their stories. They all have unique lives that get intertwined after the murder. The final reveal that solves the mystery wraps up all the plot points nicely and changes all of the characters' lives, for the better or for the worse.

This one is one of my favourite books of all time. I loved every part of the story, especially the characters. They all got fleshed out story lines that make sense in the context of the book. The side characters also helped make the book really enjoyable. The one critique I have of this book is the ending. I found it underwhelming compared to the rest of the plot. I would recommend this book to teenagers because it takes place in a high school setting and it also includes problems that they could easily relate to.
