MLB The Show 23 fails to deliver on its promises, providing a disappointingly underwhelming experience. From gameplay to graphics, this installment fails to impress even the most die-hard baseball fans. MLB The Show 23 could have been one of the best games in a long time, however it failed in every way possible.

First, the gameplay feels boring and unoriginal. Despite promises of better mechanics throughout the whole game, it is the same old swing-and-miss situation with little innovation to speak of. The Artificial intelligence that you face remains frustratingly predictable, making each game feel like a repetitive chore rather than an immersive experience.

Graphically, MLB The Show 23 is a step backward. Character models lack detail, animations are clunky and unnatural, and stadium environments feel lifeless and bland. It is hard to believe this is a game released in the 2020s, with visuals that look like they just came from the 7th gen consoles.

The game's modes offer little in the way of excitement or variety. Every mode feels the same, and there is no difference between them. Franchise mode feels like a chore rather than a strategic challenge, while Road to the Show fails to capture the thrill of climbing the ranks from newcomer to superstar. Online play is plagued by tons of lag and connectivity issues, further ruining any potential enjoyment.

To add insult to injury, microtransactions are put everywhere and shamelessly shoved in your face at every opportunity, turning what should be a fun baseball simulation into a cash grab. Greed has taken precedence over player satisfaction in MLB The Show 23.

Overall, MLB The Show 23 is a swing and a miss. Save your money and stick to earlier, more enjoyable entries in the series.
