Nancy Drew 02 - The Hidden Staircase. [Carolyn Keene]

Victoria, Grade 9, My rating: 5/5

Nancy Drew is a young girl who loves mysteries, puzzles, riddles, and anything else of that sort you can think of. She had previously solved “The Secret of the Old Clock'' and had great success with her first mystery case. In this next book, Nancy must solve two mysteries at the same time; one involves one of her close friends, Helen Corning, who is about three years older than Nancy. Helen has an Aunt named Rosemary, she recently started living with her mother in a house located at Twin Elms in the old family mansion out in Cliffwood. They have encountered many strange and bizarre encounters and weird things have been happening there. The pair would like Nancy Drew to help them get to the bottom of this mystery. The second mystery Nancy has to solve is very threatening and dangerous towards her father. Threatening remarks have been made towards Nancy Drew’s father, Carson Drew (a well-known lawyer in River Heights, where they live). She needs to solve this thriller and get to the bottom of who was threatening her father and why. This book was filled with adventure and thrills and is suitable for anyone of any age. I enjoyed how the book was not focusing on one mystery, but too. This gives the reader the opportunity to change their perspective and keeps the reader/audience engaged. My favourite part of the story was when Nancy faced all of the challenges along the way. She was able to persevere and get to the bottom of the plot. I would recommend this book/series to anyone who loves a good mystery book. This story was interesting, intriguing, suspenseful and unexpected. I would rate this book a 5/5. It was not too long and very action-packed! I had an amazing time reading this book.
