Goosebumps - Welcome to Dead House. [R.L. Stine]

Victoria, Grade 9, My rating: 5/5

From the unexpected turns throughout the plot, to the eerie truth waiting to be unravelled in the town of Dark Falls, a secret is knit within the walls of this community – until Josh and Amanda move into the creepiest and spookiest house on the block. Their fathers great-uncle Charles left the house to their family in his will. Shortly after they found this information out, they very quickly and eagerly moved into the ghostly house. The kids were reluctant at first, but they had no choice. Amanda and Josh soon realise that there is more to the house and to the community and soon enough discover the mysterious truth. Amanda has been seeing things, or people in the house, and their first few nights in the house seem abnormal to say the least. But, one night leads to the sibling duo saving their parents and uncovering the truth behind their unusual new friends who long for something more. Their friends seemed unusual, and bizarre, but also familiar. It seems like there is more going on than what the other kids are leading on. With persistence, courage and bravery in their back pocket, the siblings are able to solve and overcome these unusual happenings and save themselves from a risky ending. I liked this story a lot because it was action-packed and there was so much going on at once. There were parts of the story which seemed out of the norm, but Josh and Amanda were able to fill in the blanks and solve the riddles lying within their own house. This book is suitable for anyone who is in for a scare, and who is interested in ghosts, and spooky endings. The book was not too scary, but not everyone might be interested in this genre. The overall plot and story was fantastic to say the least!
