Diary of a Wimpy Kid by Jeff Kinney

By Anna, grade nine

Greg Heffley hasn't exactly had a perfect time in middle school up until now. Consequently, he is not overly upset when the town threatens to close the dilapidated structure. Greg, though, has a change of heart when he learns that he will be attending a different school than Rowley Jefferson, his best buddy.

Rowley and Greg have been best friends since before they can remember, and now their friendship is threatened because of the city, and Greg must find a way to fix it before he and Rowley are separated and no longer close buds which is a nightmare he’s faced for a long time, but up until now he’s always fixed things. They’ve fought, argued, and gone through many things together but this is the hardest challenge Greg will have to face in order to protect his friendship.

The narrative combines friendship, hardships, and youth's resiliency to create another captivating entry in this well-liked series. This book is a solid 8/10 and if you’re in middle school and feel like the world is ending, you’ll love this book.

The main characters are Greg Heffley, Rowley Jefferson, and of course Greg’s iconic family members, his mom, his dad, his little brother, and his big brother Rodrick who is practically a menace to society and himself.
