The Little Mermaid is a 2023 live-action movie adaptation of the animated Little Mermaid made by Disney. Directed by Rob Marshall and produced by Marc Platt, Lin-Manuel Miranda, John DeLuca and Rob Marshall. This movie has been a hit ever since its release in late May. Ariel (Halle Bailey) is the youngest daughter of Triton, ruler of Atlantica had always felt a need to explore the world beyond the sea. Whilst visiting the surface, she comes across a man, Eric (Jonah Hauer-King) and quickly feels a need to stay with him on land. Wanting to stay with Eric and explore more of the world she makes a risky deal with a sea witch named Ursula (Melissa McCarthy), the deal was Ariel would get legs to walk on land and in return Ursula would get her voice. Ariel agreed and went on to live on land except it was not as easy as she had hoped. I would give this movie 3.5 stars out of 5 stars. This movie is an adaptation of an already popular Disney movie so I wished that they would have done more with the character or had more of a modern change in music choice or outfit selection. Or show us a side of Ariel that we haven't seen before. I would say though that the scenery was very appealing to the eye. This movie would most likely appeal to anyone from the ages of 4 and older given that it is a pretty kid-friendly movie.
