The Fine Print

Lauren Asher

Ashleigh (Grade 10)

Rating: 5/5

Zahra is a young woman who works at Dreamland, a famous American amusement park. After submitting an outrageous proposal attacking its most expensive ride she is shockingly offered her dream job, and her life spins in a completely new direction. Mostly positive, except for her boss, a miserable wreck who is one of the top managers in the company.

Rowan Kane is down to business, very impersonal. Originally he was intrigued by the idea of inviting someone with such a bold opinion as Zahra onto the team. But after an unfortunate turn of events where he kissed her, things spiraled out of control. Secrets became harder to bear and mysteries were unfurling. Rowan has built so many walls he doesn’t know how to take them down at this point. He knew he was never getting the happy ending, but Zahra could have never predicted falling for someone like him.

The Fine Print is a beautiful romance between a brilliant engineer and billionaire. He, a cold and sad man who gave up dreaming a long time ago. But maybe he’s willing to give it another shot? Her, a young and blooming talent for the Kane company who has provided much creative genius. The pair face a multitude of obstacles that make them question their choices (and maybe everything) that has readers invested in their happy ending. The novel also touches on concepts such as abuse and depression that adds a hint of seriousness into this beautiful romance.

This book is one of my personal favourites because of its original nature, simple, sweet and dark story as well as the characters. The grumpy x sunshine trope is a personal favourite which had me grinning at the pages. Not only that, but I loved the way the story was carried so that the individual struggles of the characters helped them evolve in personal ways that inspired me to do the same. I find this an excellent comfort book that any romance reader would love.

I especially recommend this book to anyone who is looking to ease their way into errotic romance or who is looking for that specific series between fuzzy and aggressive. This book also touches on business information and career stress, so anyone looking for a down-to-earth romance should take a look at this series. The rich vocabulary and flawless storyline is an excellent read with just the right amount of smut, making Lauren Asher a truly incredible author. The Fine Print is exceptional and every older romance reader should get a chance to read it.
