On Monday, March 1, the Simcoe-Muskoka region will be moving to the GREY – Lockdown zone of the provincial framework.
Beginning Monday, both Barrie Public Library buildings will be closed to in-person visits. However, patrons will be able to pick-up holds at the front entrances on a drop-in basis or by scheduling an Express Pick-up appointment.
While we are able to offer computer access in the GREY zone, we aren’t able to offer browsing of our collection. Staff are evaluating the guidelines and our spaces and how we might be able to safely offer computer access at a later date.
- Returns will be accepted at both outdoor return slots 24/7. Returned items are quarantined before being checked in and may stay on your account for up to 7 days.
- Virtual programming and virtual coaching sessions will continue and our Digital Library is always open.

Please note: Safety protocols remain in place during our Express Services. This includes wearing a face covering, maintaining 2m distance from staff and others waiting for service, and staying home if you are sick.

Picking up your reserved items is as easy as 1-2-3!
- Visit our online catalogue myBPL to browse or search for items to place on hold.
- When your item(s) are ready you will be notified by your chosen contact method (text message or email). You then have 7 days to schedule an Express Pick-up appointment or drop-in to pick-up your items.
- Have your library card handy when you pick up your items at your selected location!
