Our Downtown Library will be closed to in-person services from Thursday, March 28 to Tuesday, April 2, 2024.
While the building is closed, staff will be providing express services on Thursday, Saturday, and Tuesday from the Express Pickup Window on the Owen Street side of the building. All locations will be fully closed on Friday, Sunday and Monday of that weekend for the Easter holiday.

- Thursday, March 28: OPEN for express service (9:30am-9pm)
- Friday, March 29: CLOSED for holiday
- Saturday, March 30: OPEN for express service (9:30am-5pm)
- Sunday, March 31: CLOSED for holiday
- Monday, April 1: CLOSED for holiday
- Tuesday, April 2: OPEN for express service (9:30am-9pm)
During express service hours, library members will be able to pick up holds, request items, and print up to 10 pages for no charge. Express Pick-up appointments are encouraged for quick pick-up of items, and returns will be accepted 24/7 through the outdoor return slot.
“The lobby floor was repaired in December but unfortunately a problem with the finish has been identified. The original vendor will be completing this work at no extra cost,” said Chris Vanderkruys, Director of Business and Development. “The City of Barrie has planned the work for this holiday weekend to minimize the impact on our community as we are already closed for the Easter holiday.”
Library staff will be taking advantage of the closure to complete other projects, including maintenance to the rooftop garden to get it ready for the season, and shifting of collections and spaces on the main floor.
Members are reminded to take advantage of the library’s online services, including the Digital Library, cloudLibrary, Busy Bundles and Wireless Printing.
Our Painswick and Holly locations will continue to offer full services that weekend, other than the regular holiday closures.
