The Barrie Public Library is set to celebrate everything cultural with Ontario Culture Days this fall! An exciting variety of programs and events featuring community partners will be offered from September 23 to October 16, 2022. Come explore a variety of free in-person and virtual programs that celebrate the arts, culture and diversity of Simcoe County.
No matter your age, interests or abilities, the Barrie Public Library has something for you during Culture Days!
In-Person Programs
- At our Downtown Library on September 14, the Library is collaborating with EarlyON’s Indigenous Coordinator to present an Indigenous Storytime for families.
- Music lovers can attend or even perform at Open Mic Night with the Simcoe Folk Society on Tuesday, October 4, from 7-8:30pm.
- Looking to learn a new language? You can connect with the Barrie Latin Resource Centre for Spanish classes.
- Those newer to Canada are invited to join the Library’s English Conversation Circle on Saturdays Downtown from 11am-12:30pm.
Virtual Programs
If you can’t get to the Library in-person you don’t need to miss out. We will have videos airing throughout the month, including Community Voices, which highlights local arts personalities, the Stories of Us series, where you can listen to local newcomers’ experiences, and an assortment of Library staff’s Book Chat videos, which offer inspiration for your next great read.
DIY & Maker
For those who prefer expressing their creativity by "doing", the Library has you covered with two video DIY programs: get creative by making a watercolour bookmark for your favourite book or learn how to cook up some delicious Mexican-Peruvian treats.
