From September 20 to October 13, 2024 discover the incredible world of arts and culture across Canada, explore Barrie Public Library programs, and celebrate the diversity of Simcoe County with our cultural family Storytime Specials, English Conversation Circle, and more.

English Conversation Circles
Practice English, meet new friends, and learn more about life and culture in Canada. Challenge yourself to build your speaking confidence! Held every Saturday morning at our Downtown branch at 11:00 am, hosted by community volunteers. Visit our Event Calendar for details.
Learn Spanish
Learn the basics of Spanish with the Barrie Latin Resource Centre, at our Downtown branch Thursdays at 1:00 pm or at our Painswick branch Thursdays at 7:00 pm.
Learn French
Practice your French with Collège Boréal, at our Downtown branch Tuesdays at 7:30 pm and Thursdays at 4:30 pm.
Song Circle and Open Stage Nights with the Barrie Folk Society
Listen to the sound of live folk music or take the mic and perform your favourite folk tune. Learn Ukulele

Writing Support
Barrie Writers' Club Public Meeting
Provides a supportive environment where members share their work, offer insights into the work of others, and enhance knowledge to improve their writing skills. Non-members are welcome to drop-in, however please register if you wish to be critiqued (see contact in event calendar details). This group meets at the Downtown branch the 2nd (critiques) and 4th (discussion topic) Monday from 6:30-8:30pm.Visit our Event Calendar for details.

Knitting Circle
Bring your project and drop in to join other yarn enthusiasts! Join the Holly Branch group Monday evenings at 6:30pm to work on your own projects while socializing with other yarn lovers. For tweens & teens who love to draw! Come out monthly and practice techniques & fundamentals of drawing.This drawing program is for all skills levels. Explore cartoon characters, animals, and portraits. Join this monthly club to meet others who love to draw! This Painswick branch group meets the last Wednesday of the month from 4:00-5:30pm.
