Kingdom : Ashin of the North is a prequel to the Korean series “Kingdom”. It shows and explains where the resurrection plant was first discovered, and who started the plague. The resurrection plant is what seems to be a beautiful purple flower that can revive the dead. However, this plant contained parasitic worms that can take over the mind and body of the dead, and turn them into flesh eating monsters (zombies).

Ashin, a little girl looking for ways to cure her very ill mother, found a cave filled with the resurrection plant and a wall with illustrations that explain how to use the plant and its origins. When she returned to her village, everything was burned and her people were murdered with no mercy. She was sent to a military post, where she did several jobs and trained herself to fight until she became an adult. She vowed to avenge her father and her village while having to deal with betrayal, and a heavy secret of her own.

I personally think that this was a very good movie, and it’s better to watch this before watching the series because it happened first in the Kingdom timeline. It wasn’t that scary for a zombie movie, but I do think that a few people might find it terrifying because the zombies are very aggressive, and the graphics are crazy scary. I would not recommend for children to watch this because there’s a lot of sensitive things that are shown, and I think it might cause them to have nightmares. However, I would recommend it for teenagers and above.
