The Barren Grounds, a novel won the 2021 Panda Book Award, the 2022 Rocky Mountain Book Award, the 2021 Silver Birch Award for Fiction, and the 2022 Surrey Schools Book of the Year. The Barren Grounds was a CBC Books number one bestseller for children’s books for six nonconsecutive weeks and remained on the list for over a year following publication. The book received starred reviews from Kirkus Reviews, as well as positive reviews from the Toronto Star, Toronto Public Library, CM Magazine, and Publishers Weekly.

The book is a work of fantasy. It tells the story of Morgan and Eli, two Aboriginal foster children, and their experiences. In the attic, they find a mysterious doorway that transports them to a different realm. You get the impression that the book's characters' journey is authentic and appropriate as you follow them. Like Morgan, her journey is emotional, difficult, heartbreaking, relatable, and crucial. This book has a lot of information and details that can educate us. For instance, Eli spared the wolf's life by preventing the bear from murdering it. As a result, the wolf chose to give his life at the last possible second to drive the guy back off the cliff and save Eli and the others. To aid readers in understanding the plot, the book opens with a map and a translation between the two languages.

Don’t forget about who you are and don’t forget yourself. This sentence guides the primary idea of the entire article. So I recommend guys to read this book.
