Jurassic World Dominion is the third film in the Jurassic World series and the sixth in the entire Jurassic Park franchise. The latest film is better than both the past Jurassic World films and is really fun to watch but it still falls short, especially when comparing it to the original Jurassic Park. The plot is split in two which converges later, we see that Maisie from the last movie gets kidnapped by mystery people, meanwhile we see that farms are being attacked by giant insects that are suspected to be made by Biosyn in which our characters try to infiltrate their lab to find out the truth. Starting off positive, the special effects in this film are great, especially the practical effects and even the CGI most of the time. Another positive is that some of the original cast came back and reprised their roles which in many other cases could be seen as trying to recapture the magic of the original but I felt like they did a really good job and their characters were almost just as great as the originals but the same can't be said for the characters who are from the Jurassic World movies. I feel that the characters made for the World series are a lot weaker and not as heartfelt as the originals, they made me care a lot more about Maisie from the last film but the main problem is Chris Pratt's character, Owen Grady. I really hate the character of Owen Grady in all the Jurassic World films, Chris Pratt is a great actor and none of this is his fault, it's the writers and what they did is try making the coolest person ever without any flaws and can get out of any situation and all of that is my problem with him. Owen Grady has no personality besides straight faced hero and it sucks the fun out of the film and it is a shame because they are wasting an amazing actor who is known for their comedy, you know he will make it out because he never falters in the films and the perfect comparison is Alan Grant from the first film. Alan Grant is an amazing character because of his faults and how imperfect he is, he hates kids at the start of the film but then has kids thrusted upon him and now needs to protect them and he struggles with this at first but throughout their adventure through the park, their relationships grow and it is wonderful to watch. The film has a lot of stuff for fans to try and make them happy, in some cases this works like when they brought back my favorite dinosaur, the Dilophosaurus but a lot of the time it makes me feel nothing, it isn't the original so don't try to be. It doesn't have a bunch of major problems besides Owen Grady, the film is just mediocre with some high points, they don't do much to make me feel anything in any direction. In the end it is an enjoyable film but it doesn't reach for greatness or even just being good, it is just trying to make some money and leave which is a shame as I can see some people behind the scenes really cared, like with the practical effects. I would recommend the film if you don´t mind a film just doing a bit above the bare minimum.
