The book I read is called “The Book Thief” written by Markus Zusak. My name is Lani, a student in grade 10 and I will introduce this book to you today!! The plot of this book is based on a real-life event that happened when Adolf Hitler was dominating Germany and the story moves on with the character that the author of this book created. The main character of this book Liesel, the 11 years old girl and narrator of this book is death itself. This book shows the reader that Liesel, who has lost her brother, lives in a Nazi-controlled town under foster care. She has a friendship with a boy, a bond with a Jewish man hiding in the basement of her house, a strange relationship with a woman whose books she steals, a warm father, and a foul-mouthed and compassionate mother. This small but lovely life is quickly reduced to nothing in war. The German sky is covered with so many souls that even death becomes empty. This book is good to know the event that happened during the years when Nazis were in control of Germany. I am also one of the people who got interested in the history of Germany after reading this book and have done little research about it. I would rate this book four out of five because this book gives you great opportunities to learn about Nazis and is also very exciting to know what is going to happen next. It is also fun to see Liesel growing up as the story goes on. I would recommend this book to any person who is interested in knowing the history of the Nazis.
