Land of Stories, Beyond the Kingdoms

Beyond the Kingdoms is probably my favourite book in this series, due to its unexpected depth.  Although I do love this series a lot, it is still a middle grade book, but the fourth instalment of the Land of Stories Series had so many turns I could barely keep up. This was definitely the part of the series where you see everything going wrong, and nothing seems to be fixed. We get glimpses of loyalty, betrayal and angst in this book. We see a giant insight into Conner and Alex Bailey’s background, and their family tree. Honestly, this book had so many shocking revelations on top of each other, you could barely keep up. I also loved how the author incorporates Alex’s emotions into the story, and how you can see her grief over her grandmother’s death amplified. In this book, the masked man has acquired a potion that lets him travel into written stories. The twins need to stop him before he gathers an army of literary villains to seize the fairytale world. Overall, this book had a really nice flow, with amazing reveals that kept giving more depth and plot into the story. It left me yearning for more, and extremely excited for the fifth book.
