Library Access During Temporary Closure

At the Barrie Public Library, we have been closely monitoring the developments related to COVID-19. On Friday March 14th, after consultations with the City of Barrie and the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit, we decided to close our library buildings until further notice.

Effective March 14, 2020 - All Barrie Public Library will be closed out of an abundance of caution due to COVID-19 at both our Downtown and Painswick locations until further notice. 

Winterfest meets Africa at the Library! February 1 & 2, 2020

Join us for Winterfest activities all weekend long on February 1 and 2! Zootek will be visiting with their live animal show, drop in to sign up for the Wild Africa Escape Room, and dance and sing to the African beat at Giraffes Can't Dance Storytime. 

Maya Burhanpurkar launching the Library’s Artificial Intelligence Series

The Library has partnered with Georgian College’s Big Data Analytics program for the Shaping Our Future Series, featuring student presentations on the benefits and risks of artificial intelligence. The series is launching January 16 with a presentation by Maya Burhanpurkar, third-year physics student and researcher at Harvard University.

Your ability to access eBooks is in jeopardy

The Barrie Public Library is committed to providing access to all kinds of books, ideas, information and resources. Our goal is to connect you with titles you want to read – whether it’s in print, eBook or audiobook format. Recently, Macmillan Publishing, one of the large multinational publishers, announced a change that will have a direct impact on your ability to access popular eBooks, and I want to share information about this change with you.
