Dragon boat team cheering
The Barrie Public Library is thrilled to be hosting the 18th annual Barrie Dragon Boat Festival, returning in-person, this Saturday, August 20th, 2022

After a two-year hiatus, dragon boat enthusiasts will be able to reunite in Heritage Park for the long awaited 2022 Barrie Dragon Boat Festival.

We look forward to seeing teams return to the water for a renewed sense of unity, while raising funds for local charitable organization - including us! Funds raised for the Barrie Public Library through the Barrie Dragon Boat Festival support our ‘Future Branches’ campaign, opening the doors to future library locations throughout the city.

Early bird registration opens on May 2 so it's time to start getting those teams together!  Stayed tuned for festival updates by signing up for our festival email list, following the Library on social media, or visiting barriedragonboatfestival.ca.

The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted our community in countless ways. As eager as we are to reconnect members through the love of dragon boating, we are taking all necessary precautions to ensure the health and safety of those in attendance. The safety of our community and participants is always at the forefront of festival planning, and organizers continue to work closely with the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit to follow all health and safety measures.

Paddles Up!
