Looking to find your roots?  Search genealogical records for Canada, the U.S. and the U.K., including census, vital statistics, church, court and immigration records.

What’s inside:
Ancestry Library is a genealogy database that covers billions of records, from census data to directories and photos to family trees. Ancestry Library gives you access to more than 9,000 databases and 200 billion images from the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Europe, and Australia.

Where to find:  Ancestry™ Library Website (ONLY available in-library)

Getting Started:  Help Guide

Devices: Access Ancestry through a web browser on your computer or mobile device. You will need your library card number and PIN. Records can be downloaded, emailed or printed.

Ancestry™ has been the gold standard in family history research for a while. It’s only available to visitors who come in-person to the library.

Black and white photo with Ancestry Search screen superimposedIn Ancestry™ you can do wide ranging searches across time and space to weave together the story of your ancestors. Pinpoint birth and marriage dates, confirm where ancestors lived and their occupation, discover unknown great uncles and aunts.

You may even be able to get a picture of the ship that brought a family member to Canada! And thanks to the breadth of records in Ancestry™, your research can cover most English-speaking countries and beyond.

Please note:
Not everything is online, despite what you may think. However, Ancestry™ is an excellent starting point for genealogical research.

Also, there is a difference between Ancestry™ Library Edition and personal subscriptions to Ancestry™. The Library Edition is anonymous, so you will not be able to save records to your account or create a personal family tree.
