Looking for some free and fun activities to fill your weekend? Look no further than the Barrie Public Library. We’ve curated a list of four fantastic weekend activities for all ages:
1. Create your own at-home cinema
Why pay to go to the cinema when you can create your own cinema experience at home? Borrow a movie or TV show from our collection and a Library of Thing’s Portable Projector Kit to turn you home into a movie theatre. Snuggle up with your favourite people, snacks in hand, as you enjoy blockbuster hits or your preferred series on the big screen.
2. Host a games night
Host a games night with our Tabletop Game Kits. Reserve your favourite games from our collection and enjoy a family game night in the comfort of your own home. From classic board games to exciting new additions, we've got something for everyone from ages 2 to 18+. Round up your friends or family and dive into some friendly competition.
3. Enjoy a chill afternoon at the library
Enjoy a relaxing afternoon at one of our three locations. There's plenty to do: browse our books and magazines, contribute to our community puzzle, play a board game, make a craft in our Creative Spaces, use our free wifi and computers, attend a program, and much more. Take some time to unwind in the peaceful atmosphere of the library.
4. Embark on an outdoor adventure
As spring arrives, it is time to step outside and explore the natural beauty of Barrie and surrounding areas. Our Library of Things collection offers a variety of items to enhance your outdoor spring adventures at no cost. Explore local nature areas with our free passes to borrow, including Ontario Parks Vehicle Permits and Wye Marsh Family Day Passes. For a birdwatching excursion, consider borrowing a Birdwatching Kit.
And don't forget, we have free programs every weekend for all ages. Visit the Events Calendar for all the details.
