The Barrie Public Library is excited to announce we have reached a membership milestone, welcoming 12,000 new members so far this year.

"We are beyond thrilled that 12,000 more people in the City of Barrie are benefiting from library services,” said Lauren Jessop, Barrie Public Library CEO. “This milestone has been a team effort across our entire organization. Our staff have planned and executed so many fantastic initiatives in 2023 that have raised awareness of the library and the many services we provide."

A library card is a powerful tool that promotes literacy, lifelong learning, and community connection, making it an indispensable asset for individuals looking to enrich their lives. One small card can save hundreds of dollars a year by borrowing instead of buying, and provides equal opportunity to access information and resources.

Residents of Barrie and Oro-Medonte, as well as anyone who works, attends school, or owns a property or business in Barrie are eligible for a free Barrie Public Library card. Military personnel stationed at CFB Borden can also visit any location with a piece of ID to receive a membership.
