The Fault in our Stars

August 10, 2021
The Fault in our Stars is about Hazel Grace Lancaster, a sixteen-year-old girl who suffers from thyroid cancer and metastasis in her lungs. She pretty much hates her life until she meets charismatic Augustus Waters, a seventeen-year-old boy who used to have osteosarcoma, a type of bone cancer. They quickly bond over witty conversation and the correct use of literality.

This book is unique because of the descriptive words used throughout the novel. It's written from Hazel's perspective, and because she's already taking college classes, her mind works in an advanced way. The story is not too difficult to read, but it's aimed more at teens and young adults than younger audiences. I enjoyed the expansive vocabulary featured in this book, but warning, there are swear words used.

The Greatest Secret by Rhonda Byrne

August 9, 2021

The Greatest Secret by Rhonda Byrne truly did feel like an awakening. If you've read The
Secret by her, you should definitely go for this one. If not, I suggest going through The
Secret first and then jumping onto this book.
Being someone who takes great interest in the teachings of Law of Attraction and has
read or watched multiple works from multiple multi-national teachers on the same, The
Greatest Secret that Byrne has revealed in this book was no surprise to me

High School Musical Directed by Kenny Ortega

August 6, 2021

This is such a great movie made in the early 2000s. It is about multiple high school students, the main ones are; Troy; basketball star of the East High Wildcats, faced with finding what he truly wants and likes to do, he and meets a girl, Gabriella; the new girl at East High who is trying to fit in and meet her people. The musical theatre twins; Ryan and Sharpay. Ryan is a theatre boy who is shadowed by his sister, the big shot self loving Sharpay. She is determined to remain the star of the musical and is not fond of the new girl Gabriella and her relationship with Troy. Finally, Chad and Taylor, best friends of Troy and Gabriella, are figuring out whether to support their friends, or try and separate them for what they think is best.

Northern Exposures is set in modern-day Toronto, Ontario and Churchill, Manitoba. The story follows Kevin, an average teenage boy with strict workaholic parents. One day, Kevin gets a call from Norm Rippon of the Mississauga news photo contest.  Kevin is the first prize winner of a photography contest that he entered only so he could skip school. First prize is a fancy new camera, a bunch of free film and developing, and a trip to Churchill, Manitoba to photograph polar bears with a famous photographer.

Mamma Mia: Here we go Again

August 5, 2021

This movie was really unique because it was like a prequel and a sequel.  It revealed the life of one of the main characters Donna, but it also continued the story in present time of her daughter Sophie as Donna has passed away

Emma Directed by Autumn Wilde

August 5, 2021

I would rate this movie a 2/5.  This movie was one of the classic drama’s set in Victorian times where there was a need for a high social status and of course the rush for a woman to get married.  In this movie based on Jane Austen’s book Emma, this is a story about a young wealthy girl who is instrumental in finding love for her dearest friend.  I absolutely loved the friendship between the two main female characters because although sometimes bad decisions were made they were made on good intentions and they were both extremely loyal to one another.

Insidious 3 - Directed by Leigh Whannell

August 5, 2021

Insidious chapter 3 is a prequel to the first and second insidious.  It shows us what the psychic Elise had done and been through before the first and second insidious.  Every part of this movie is thrilling and keeps you on your toes, and personally I thought this movie was more scary than the first and the second.  I think this was the perfect horror movie because it had terrifying monsters, a good story and good actors.  Usually in the horror movies I have seen a lot of them do not have good stories and lack that scary backstory that the movie needed.

I Am Number 4 by Pittacus Lore. 18 people left the planet Lorien; 9 Garde (The fighters) and 9 Cepans/guardians. They arrived on Earth after the destruction of their home planet after it was attacked by a ruthless alien race also known as the Mogadorians. The Giver by Lois Lowry

August 5, 2021

The Giver, by Lois Lowry, is an amazing read in my opinion. She did an outstanding job when it came to keeping the reader hooked and engaged with the storyline. She is such a gifted author and I was really excited to read this book. The book itself is very well written but I found myself rereading sentences since sometimes I was confused as to what was happening in the novel.
