Definitely different from any other book I've read. The story is very unique in a lot of different ways. I found that it is not my cup of tea. I do not know if it is because I cannot understand what the point of the story is or because I simply found it uninteresting. After reading the story I did not have a feeling of satisfaction like I normally do when I finish reading novels. It is hard to tell if this is simply too much of a complex book or if it truly is distasteful in pulling in readers.

The story talks about a man named Jim Smiley who likes to bet on things. An old man tells a story about this man’s gambling addiction and a particular story about a frog race. The man who we are reading the perspective of listens to this man’s stories without saying a single word. Jim Smiley gets scammed by another man in this frog race he bet on, and loses his money. I’m not sure what the appeal of the story is. I do not recommend this for younger readers because it has a lot of difficult words in it, and is hard to comprehend.

I did manage to find a lesson after analyzing the story. It warns readers to beware of gambling and its consequences.I can see that it is meant to be humorous but I cannot say that I smiled during reading. I would not recommend this to my friends but it was nice to read something different.
