The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

Ratings: 5/5

The Hunger Games series is my favorite trilogy of all times by Suzanne Collins. The book was published on September 14th, 2008, and the movie adaptation came out on March 24th, 2012. I have read and watched the series more than times I can count. This book is a perfect mix of science fiction and fantasy. While I love this book so much, I want to express the main differences I have noticed between the book and the movie. It's understandable that book to movie adaptations can’t include every single detail but there are some details I wish were included in the movie. The first detail I’ve noticed is how they portrayed Peeta in the movie vs the book. In the movie, they portrayed Peeta as a charming guy which is accurate to the book. Unfortunately, they made him seem really weak when in the book he was really strong mentally and physically. He was also really good at manipulating the capital which made Katniss and him a good duo because Peeta knew how to play the people while Katniss knew how to play the games. Aside from that, they didn’t show how gruesome the games were in the movie. While reading the book, you really understood how evil the capital is and how they don’t view anyone from the districts as humans. During the games, some characters had really painful deaths which weren't shown in the movie. Overall, I wish the movies showed the trauma all the characters had from the games and how badly it affected them.
