Daughter of the Pirate King by Tricia Levenseller Review

Rated 5/5

Alosa Kalligan is sent on a mission by her father, the Pirate King, to infiltrate her enemies’ ship in order to find another part of the hidden treasure map that leads to Isla de Canta, the sirens’ island. To enter this ship, this seventeen-year-old pirate captain plans to willingly be kidnapped by her enemies and be their prisoner. But after getting on, Alosa finds this mission more difficult than expected when met with Riden, her interrogator. He’s the charming, intelligent, and unfairly attractive first mate of the ship. Although he was an unexpected challenge, there’s no need to worry as Alosa is the daughter of the Pirate King, meaning that no pirate can stop her.

“Daughter of the Pirate King” by Tricia Levenseller is a young adult novel in the world of pirates and sirens. This is my first book about pirates, and I absolutely loved it! I liked how Alosa, the female lead, was strong, clever, and defended herself in almost every situation. Her continuous banter with Riden was also funny and gave off a lot of romantic tension between them. It’s also a fast-paced story perfect for getting out of a reading slump. I actually gave this book a high rating because of its fast pace. I finished reading it in 2 days and lost sleep over it as I couldn’t put it down! It’s a part of a duology, so I’m looking forward to reading the next book. I recommend this to anyone who likes enemies to lovers, pirates, romance, action, and who needs a fast-paced story.
