On the afternoon of April 8, 2024, a solar eclipse will be observed from much of Ontario, including Barrie and surrounding areas.
This exciting global event will certainly be on everyone’s mind at the beginning of April and we’re here to help at the library.
We’ve gathered some resources and activities you can do as a family to talk, discover, and learn about the upcoming solar eclipse. They are guaranteed to shed light on the eclipse:
- Join us for Pinhole Camera DIY on April 6 from 11:30am to 12:30pm. Learn more about the solar eclipse and how to build a pinhole camera out of cereal boxes.
- Visit the Holly Library on April 6 to take home a kid's interactive craft kit that illustrates and explains the eclipse (while supplies last).

No, the library will not be handing out solar eclipse glasses. Eclipse solar viewers or glasses can be purchased online.
Will the library be hosting watch parties or viewing areas?
For the safety of all our patrons and staff, the library will not be hosting watch parties or viewing areas. All three library locations will remain open on April 8.
