The Barrie Public Library is embarking on a multi-phase, multi-year project to refresh the Downtown library.

In 2018, we worked with the City of Barrie, a consultant, library staff, and the public to create a Master Facilities Plan. Part of the plan included recommendations for improving the use of space at the Downtown library.

We have opened a survey to gather feedback from the public about what they value about the Downtown library and to gather any suggestions for improvements.

“It’s so important that our spaces reflect the changing needs of our residents,” said Lauren Jessop, CEO of the Barrie Public Library. “We’re really looking forward to reading the feedback.  We want to create spaces that are welcoming, functional and flexible and that bring the look and feel of our Holly and Painswick locations to our Downtown library.”

The survey will be open until Tuesday, July 4. Survey respondents have the option to enter to win a Kobo eReader, which can be used to read eBooks from the library’s collection.

Barrie Public Library memberships are available for free to those who live, work, or study in the City of Barrie, as well as residents of Oro-Medonte.
