Next week is Pollinator Week! We couldn't BEE more excited about our new native gardens around our Downtown library.
These gardens have been filled with plants, trees and shrubs that are native to Ontario. Once established, this garden will be low maintenance, will conserve water and will provide much needed food sources for insects, birds and animals.
City of Barrie garden expert Dave spent the winter researching which native plants are best suited for our local climate, created a garden design, and sourced the plants from local growers.
Native plants do take a few years to get established (the first year they sleep, the second, they creep, the third year, they leap!), so stay tuned for some beautiful gardens emerging over the next few years.
