From April 27 to May 3, 2025, the Barrie Public Library will celebrate our volunteers during National Volunteer Week. This annual celebration is a time to thank and recognize our volunteers who make our programs and services possible.

The theme for National Volunteer Week 2025 is Volunteers Make Waves. It highlights the power, impact and importance of individual and collective volunteer efforts across Canada. Like a wave, volunteering is movement-building.

We are incredibly grateful for our 200+ volunteers. Their contributions are valued by everyone here at the Barrie Public Library and we're thrilled to see how their actions make an impact on our community’s overall wellness, both now and for future generations.

Our Program Assistant volunteers help individuals, both young and old, to develop skills, discover different perspectives, and gain connections.

Our Café volunteers not only raise funds for library projects, but they also provide a warm presence and a listening ear to those who stop by for a chat.

Our Visiting Library Service volunteer drivers connect patrons who can’t physically make it to the library, with the materials that keep them happy and entertained.

Our Administrative volunteers work alongside staff to support programs that are meaningful and create change.

If you see a Library volunteer in one of our branches, be sure to wish them a Happy National Volunteer Week and thank them for their time, talent, and energy.
