World Autism Awareness Day is an internationally recognized day on April 2 every year. On this day we encourage everyone to take measures to raise awareness about people with Autism Spectrum Disorder throughout the world. It was designated by the United Nations General Assembly resolution.

Autism Resources:

The library has many resources for people wanting to learn more about autism. This autism awareness booklist features stories that shine a light on people living with Autism Spectrum Disorder as well as resources for families looking for more information on ASD.

Sensory Support Kits

Developed by Autism Canada, Sensory Support Kits are designed to support those on the Autism Spectrum by offering a selection of sensory and tactile items for self-regulation, comfort and to stimulate learning. Check out a Sensory Support Kit from the library!

Kits include:

  • Noise reducing ear covers
  • Fidget items (cube, spinner, squishy ball, ball roller, liquid bubbler toy)
  • Tinted Safety glasses to help manage visual sensitivity

For more information on how to borrow a Sensory Support Kit from the Library visit our Library of Things page.
