Shovel Knight Treasure Trove is an expansive, action-packed, replayable adventure that I enjoyed heavily. My name is Emilio (Grade 10), and I would rate this game a 4.5/5 as its platforming, music, and combat is greatly executed. Shovel Knight Treasure Trove is a 2D indie action-adventure platformer game, and it is the first title created by Yacht Club Games. The game is made up of three parts, which are Shovel of Hope, Plague of Shadows, and Specter of Torment. Shovel of Hope focuses on the sad journey of Shovel Knight and his quest to save his partner, Shield Knight, from the Order of No Quarter. Plague of Shadows is about Plague Knight overthrowing Shovel Knight and the Enchantress to gain their essence for the Ultimate Potion to impress his lover. Specter of Torment is my favourite as it tells a redemption story about how Spectre Knight recruits the Order of No Quarter to find a chance to return as a human. Platforming in this game is the main attraction, and it never feels dull throughout the game. It always provides fun, detailed, and precise platforming, especially with the unique mechanics of each character. The relics/arcana/curios give your character special power-ups that tailor your playing experience as it gives you options to either focus on survivability, magic, attacking, or transportation. Boss battles are a major part of this game, along with its stellar-level design. Every boss has a different battle style and environment, meaning you have to switch up your playstyle to defeat them. Bouncing/pogoing off of enemies makes the whole platforming/combat section fun because you can string combos and get to higher areas while maintaining the same sense of speed. This game has one fixed difficulty meaning that difficulty relies on how well you play it, instead of automatically making the game harder as a whole. Graphically, the 8-bit style is beautiful, and it makes all of the colours vibrant and eye-catching. The soundtrack of this game is wonderful, and it relies on an upbeat and catchy tune that fits the game perfectly. Overall I would recommend this game to anyone who loves platformers, and it gives a large amount of replayable content to explore
