Escape Room
Director: Adam Robitel
Hongyue, Grade 10
3/5 Stars
Escape room brings together six people who work to solve puzzles in order to survive.
The participants were selected due to their similar cases of being sole survivors of a particular
accident. The different rooms and puzzles are themed after the different accidents that each
individual experiences. At the end of the movie, we learn that this escape room experience is
enjoyed by the elite class who desire a kind of entertainment similar to those of Ancient Rome.
Zoey is a university student who is studying physics. She survived a plane crash when
she was younger which killed her family. Ben is an alcoholic who survived a drunk driving
accident. Jason is a stockbroker who survived a boating accident. Mike was the sole survivor of a
mine shaft collapse. Danny survived a poison gas accident. Finally, Amanda survived an IED
blast while she was a soldier in Iraq.
This movie is great. The concept is very unique and unlike anything else. The designs of
each room are very good and fit each character perfectly. I recommend this movie to 13+
because while it depicts the concept of a simple fun escape room, the content reveals a far darker
story involving death, sacrifice, and heartbreak.
