Here we go! BPL’s 2024 family Comic Fest - superheroes of all shapes and capes are returning to the Downtown Library on Saturday, September 21 from 10am to 3pm.
This day-long festival celebrates everything comic book and comic book culture, from a Storytime with Pikachu to a Character Meet and Greet with Mario and Peach for kids.
Calling all Pokemon Trainers! Get your face painted and create your own balloon creation. Gotta catch 'em all!
Make your own mask, challenge yourself on the robot obstacle course or take part in a Learn to Draw session - the possibilities are endless!
You can build Worlds! All ages and skill levels, learn the basics of Dungeons & Dragons tabletop role-playing game. Form an adventuring party who explore fantasy worlds together, embark on epic quests, and level up.
“The BPL Comic Fest is a celebration of our library collection, that includes graphic novels, comic books, manga, and a wide assortment of video games – all FREE with your library card. We invite superheroes of all ages to become library members and explore the action of a good book, excitement of a competitive game or learn the art of drawing. It is all available at your local library” stated Chantale Boileau, Program and Outreach Librarian. “We know families are looking for free activities and events that are fun for everyone and the BPL Comic Fest is ideal – with local cosplayers, artists and ongoing activities you’ll need a cape to see them all!”

BPL Comic Fest is being held in partnership with the City of Barrie’s Game On! After Dark event, which takes place at the Five Points Theatre.
Build up Party Points, join the free social mixer – Game On! After Dark – for those 19 and over on Saturday evening. Pre-registration is required as space is limited for this evening. Game On!'s pre-event is an all-ages Mario Kart Tournament during the day. Play on the big screen at the Downtown Library and visit Mario and Peach after lunch.
