Here we go! It’s a me, BPL’s 2023 family Comic Fest - superheroes of all shapes and capes are returning to the Downtown Library on Saturday, September 23 from 10am to 3pm.

This day-long festival celebrates everything comic book and comic book culture, from a Superhero Storytime to a Character Party Parade for kids.

Calling all Jedi Masters. Get your face painted to start your space journey. Patience you must have, my young Padawan to twist your saber balloon at our Jedi Academy. Enroll in the Star Wars School, will you join the Academy or the rebels?

Barbie is all these women. And all these women are Barbie, and you can be your own Barbie in our Barbie box. The Barbie and Ken Dance Party has a surprise character visit for kids.

You can build Worlds. Become a Dungeon Master (DM) Game Moderator. Learn how to be the chief storyteller and game master who runs the game. Tips for all ages on how to be an organizer, officiate the rules, arbitrate and moderate the Dungeons & Dragons role-playing game.

“The BPL Comic Fest is a celebration of our library collection, that includes graphic novels, comic books, manga, and a wide assortment of video games – all FREE with your library card. We invite superheroes of all ages to become library members and explore the action of a good book, excitement of a competitive game or learn the art of drawing. It is all available at your local library” stated Sandra Sydor, Community Engagement Manager. “We know families are looking for free activities and events that are fun for everyone and the BPL Comic Fest is ideal – with local cosplayers, artists and ongoing activities you’ll need a cape to see them all!”

Build your comic collection, including collectibles, one-of-a-kind art and cosplay accessories, shop our largest Vendor Market and Artist Alley. Explore art demos, play VR or join a game in the OMG Gaming Zone.

BPL Comic Fest is being held in partnership with the City of Barrie’s Game On! event, which takes place virtually and at the Five Points Theatre. Game On! is hosting an all day Mario Tournament on the big screen hosted by We Got Game. Mario and Peach will be visiting before lunch! Build up Party Points, join the social mixer – Game On! After Dark – for those 19 and over on Saturday evening.
