Dear Valued Library Members,

At the Barrie Public Library, we have been closely monitoring the developments related to COVID-19. On Friday March 14th, after consultations with the City of Barrie and the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit, we decided to close our library buildings until further notice. I understand this will have a significant impact on the community and those who rely on our services. Rest assured, this decision was not made lightly. Ultimately, we chose to act with the health and well-being of patrons, staff members and the wider community in mind.

During this temporary facility closure, we are taking several steps to ensure library services remain available.

All library material due dates and hold expiration dates will be extended until further  notice. There will be no additional fees or fines on your account. Phone renewal service is available at 705-728-1010 or online.

Our Digital Library is OPEN!

Access our digital library resources from home, explore eBooks, eAudiobooks, streaming movies, eMagazines and online classes. If you need help accessing online library services, you can reach us at askus@barrielibrary.ca or send us a direct message on social media.

NEW! Get a Library Card online: Complete this Online Form and you will be contacted to confirm details.

To get up-to-date and accurate information regarding the COVID-19 outbreak and how you can reduce the spread of the virus, access the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit.

Please visit our site and follow us on social media for updates.

Thank you for your support, understanding and patience during this difficult time as we work together to ensure the well-being of our community, and mitigate the spread of COVID-19.
