The Barrie Public Library is proud to announce a new outreach initiative, funded by the City of Barrie Bright Futures Grant. The 'Mind Craft' After School Program will take place at two City of Barrie Rec Centre locations in 2024 - Lampman Lane Community Centre and the Allandale Recreation Centre.

Mind Craft: Shifting Gears Cycle Club will begin on May 15th, 2024 at Lampman Lane Community Centre and take place every Wednesday until June 19th, 2024. The program will run from 3:30-5:30 pm.

Mind Craft: Guitar Heroes will begin on October 23rd, 2024 at Allandale Recreation Centre and take place every Wednesday until November 27th, 2024. The program will run from 3:30-5:30 pm.

The goal of the Mind Craft program is to reduce isolation and address loneliness in children between the ages of 10-12 through a program that provides support in building social skills, mentors practical life skills and provides opportunities for contributing to our community through volunteerism. Holding these programs at community centres allows BPL to connect with Grade 5 & 6 students in their own communities. Since the programs will be held after school, students can walk to the Mind Craft programs.
