During normal operating times, visit our Book Boutique to pick up gently used books, magazines, DVDs and more! You're sure to find some hidden gems and popular titles for a great deal. You can also buy our BPL merchandise here to support your library and show your library love. Each purchase helps support our programs and services.

Café

Our Café is stocked with beverages and snacks, including coffee and tea, water and pop, granola bars, muffins and more. 

Beverages 

  • Hot - Coffee, tea, hot chocolate, apple cider,
  • Cold - Bottled water, pop, juice

Snacks

  • Baked goods - muffins, butter tarts, cookies, brownies, Danish etc.
  • Savory treats – trail mix, chips, crackers and cheese
  • Sweet treats – chocolate bars, gum, hard and soft candy
  • Healthy options – apples, granola bars, protein bars, cup-a-soup
  • Kid friendly – applesauce, goldfish crackers, fruit strips

 

Donation Guidelines

Items we can accept

During normal operating times, we are happy to accept the following items in excellent condition:

  • classic titles, older best sellers and popular fiction of enduring interest
  • local materials about Barrie and Central Ontario
  • books that have been published or purchased within the past 5 years
  • popular, current paperbacks
  • CDs, DVDs and Audiobooks
  • textbooks published within the past 10 years
  • magazines

Items we cannot accept

We are unable to accept the following items:

  • materials that are worn, torn, underlined, highlighted, dusty, dirty, mouldy or in otherwise poor condition
  • encyclopedias, outdated computer books and manuals, Reader’s Digest condensed books, colouring books, workbooks, blank page journals
  • records, cassette or VHS tapes

What can I do with materials the library cannot accept?

Recycle! Reuse! Most thrift stores accept books and other materials as donations, or you may decide to recycle your books or magazines. Please note that the City of Barrie requires you to remove the cover of any hard cover book before placing it in your recycling bin.
