This award honours the memory of Bruce Saunders who always gave so much of his time and talents encouraging and coaching teams here in Barrie; from our first year in 2003 through to 2008. Bruce always took great joy in introducing “newbies” to the sport. Awarded to a brand-new team showing such traits as enthusiasm, skill and joy on the water!
Tracy Latimer Memorial Award
The Barrie Public Library and the local Dragon Boat Community lost a special friend in 2022. Tracy Latimer was a friend to all those who knew her, and they all loved her dearly. Tracy played an instrumental role in establishing the dragon boat community here in Barrie, introducing many new individuals to the sport, to the library, and its Festival. This award has been established to celebrate Tracy and her dedication to the Barrie Public Library and the Dragon Boat Community. It is awarded to an individual who embodies the same spirit as Tracy. One who brings others together through the love of dragon boat and has a contagious passion for the sport and their local community!
