Regenesis
By Eric Walters
Reviewed by Zach, Grade 10
Rating: 4\5
Regenesis is the exciting sequel to End of Days by award winning author Eric
Walters.
*Please see my review for End of Days first as there are spoilers in this review.*
Regenesis begins where End of Days ends, with a massive asteroid making a
catastrophic impact on planet Earth. It crashed in the Atlantic Ocean near Europe. An
estimated 800 million people perished immediately from the impact. Firestorms,
tsunamis, and eventually starvation kill the remaining population of the planet. Clouds of
dust will block out the sun, causing mass starvation and extinction. This is the beginning
of the end of humanity. Or is it?
Before the asteroid impact, 100 teens were sent up to a space station to escape
the catastrophe and to preserve humanity. Daniel Sheppard and Billy are 2 of the
leaders on the space station. Sheppard is an intelligent, mild-mannered math professor
who designed the space station. Sixteen year old Billy was one of the chosen few to go
up to space because of his leadership skills and high IQ. The space station was the
master plan of genius billionaire Joshua Fitchett. Fitchett and 100 other teens remained
on Earth in an underground bunker.
The teens on the space station are monitoring Earth to see if or when it will be
habitable again. While they are on the space station, life isn’t easy or safe. Unexpected
people show up. A fire breaks out. A satellite is on course to hit the space station.
People die on board.
Regenesis was a great novel and in my opinion almost as good as End of Days.
My only problems were the slow pace of the first half and the cliffhanger ending. This
series NEEDS a third book. I think it is unlikely that Regenesis will get a sequel because
this book was written 7 years ago. However, I still think you should read this novel if you
read End of Days first and if you enjoy a sci-fi, apocalyptic, exciting read.
