I would rate this book a 5/5 and here’s why :

The perks of being a wallflower is an amazing coming of age book about a young boy named Charlie finding his way in life. The book is represented as Charlie’s diary and we are reading his story, thoughts and views on his family, friends etc. Charlie is an introverted boy in high school who observes life from a distance rather than actually living it. He doesn’t really have any friends until he meets two amazing people : Sam, a carefree woman and Patrick (Sam’s stepbrother) who is a very outgoing and funny character. They come into Charlie’s life and introduce music, movies and a new way of living.

Charlie is an amazing character who is very relatable to teens suffering from depression or trying to find their place in the world. I truly enjoyed this book because it broadened my own perspective on certain things such as life, movies and books. This book really makes you think about the little things you do not give much thought. It shows you to appreciate the things you have, your family, friends and life.

This book pulled many emotions out of me and I believe that only the best books have that ability. It has an amazing hook that will keep you intrigued from beginning to end. It allows you to connect with Charlie and feel what he is feeling ; to be sad when he is sad, happy when he is happy and even confused when he is confused.

This book contained a little romance, a lot of drama, some comedy, and sad moments. If you are someone who looks for those qualities in books I would highly recommend this book to you because it will not disappoint. I believe that this book changed me, in a really good way. It also broadened my interest in music. It contains the most amazing indie music that you wouldn’t normally come across today. If you are a fan of art you will love this book.

I loved this book and I hope you will too!
