Rated 4.5/5

After Scarlett wins the game, Donatella is relieved as they’ve finally escaped their abusive father and prevented Scarlett from continuing her arranged marriage. Although Tella should be happy, she still has a debt to pay to someone who has been helping her along the way. Having a bargain made with a mysterious criminal, Tella owes him something that no one has been able to find, Legend’s true name. The only way to get his name is to win Caraval, so Tella joins the game. During this competition she faces many challenges, and although the game is supposed to be fantasy, Tella can’t help but believe that this one is real. But Tella winning is her main priority because if she can’t hold her end of the bargain, she will lose everything she cares about, including her life. However, if she does win, Legend and Caraval will be destroyed forever, and she will be able to save the one person she hasn’t seen since she was young.

“Legendary” by Stephanie Garber is the second book in the Caraval series about Tella and her experience in the game. Compared to the first book, I liked the second book way more because the storyline was more interesting. The romance was also more prevalent in this book. Tella’s adventure in this game was so fun and exciting to read, especially with the help of Dante in it. I liked how we could also see Scarlett and Julian’s relationship and how it developed throughout the story. Caraval is all about bargaining something for unlocking pieces of information. So as I read through the book, I was shocked and intrigued to see how this information could affect our main character’s choices. I’m excited to read the final book in the series. I know I might get heartbroken as I believe there will be a love triangle, but I’m looking forward to seeing how this story ends! I recommend this book to anyone who loves young adult fantasy, adventure, romance, a love triangle, and mystery.
