The Enemy

Sarah Adams

Zahra, 11

4/5

The Enemy is a enemies to lover’s romance novel written by Sarah Adams. It follows the story of June and Ryan. It has been 12 years since they have seen each other. They were high school rivals always trying to one up the other, until graduation when they almost kissed each other. 12 years later, they met at a bar through mutual friends. Ryan is back in town for his best friend's wedding and the story blossoms from there.

I read Sarah Adams' book called 'The Cheat Sheet’ which I really enjoyed, so I thought I would give this book a try, and it did not disappoint. I am really happy I read it and enjoyed it enough to finish it within a couple of days. This book is a little different from other romance books I have read which is part of the reason I liked it a lot. I think the character growth, especially with Ryan, was important and tied together nicely. It also allowed for the book to have some depth to it and made it flow. Another thing I also liked was the banter between the two. It made the book humorous and put a smile on my face. The reason why I gave this book a 4 out of 5 is because I didn’t really like June’s character in the beginning. I think it was a little forced and pushed out with her aggressive feelings towards Ryan.

I would recommend this book if you like soft and cute romance novels. The age rating I would give this is 14 plus
