This book is a history book that analyses the Bronze Age Collapse. The collapse was a mysterious moment in history that had often been painted as a societal collapse across an ecosystem of different nations. however, Eric H. Cline challenges many past notions common among past historians and researchers. The most common notion is the idea of an unknown people group called the “Sea people” that invaded the sedentary empires and civilizations and destroyed them with ease and within the span of several years. He wants the reader to open their minds to a far more complex story. From famines to internal rebellions, Eric H. Cline paints a wider picture of the true magnificence and complicated collapse of the Bronze Age Civilizations. As a result, Eric H. Cline’s book is a great read for anyone interested in Ancient History and the Bronze age in general, as he is informative and concise. Oftentimes, history books read like textbooks, with dry pages and nothing but information, but this book manages to create interesting ideas and points in less than two hundred pages. However, this is quite an advanced book for anyone who has no idea what the Bronze Age is. In short, the Bronze Age marked the first high of civilization, with sprawling empires, proto-globalized trade, and sophisticated cultures dotting the Eastern Mediterranean all the way to Mesopotamia. This book paints a detailed depiction of the Bronze Age and its collapse. As a result, it earns a 5/5 rating.
